What about the labelling of the Sonos One 2nd Gen? What is being sold here?

No, there is a new edition of the One with slightly adapted hardware, that is the 2nd Gen (since March 2019), independent of the first Sonos 1. With the competition, it is also explicitly declared as such when sold.

I hope I understand your question correctly. Second generation is Sonos with microphone. The sound does not differ from the predecessor.
