It is round and has a flat surface on one side which holds magnetically to the Surface.
As far as I know, the only difference is the colour...

1.round with flat spot for magnetic attachment.  2. black and shorter, same weight, as can be seen from the specifications. Whether "Charcoal" = carbon/active carbon refers to the colour or to the characteristic is beyond my knowledge. But the support team can certainly provide more information...
