The LaCie 5TB hard drive (I have tested two drives on various PCs) takes a very long time to store 4TB. Between 48 and 50 hours. With my WD-My Passport disks, this happens much faster. All disks are NTFS formatted and are operated with USB-C on the same USB port on the PC (distance guidelines = better performance).

Yes, that's because Seagate uses a technology called SMR (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...) that allows them to sell a 4 TB hard drive as a 5 TB hard drive. That's fine if it's stated in the first place, otherwise it's a scam.
