Unfortunately, this can happen, especially if you are recording at a high resolution or more than 4K. The camera usually switches itself off when it thinks it has become too warm. 
I haven't noticed this in winter yet.

It is normal for the camera to get hot during long video recordings to a certain extent.
To reduce the temperature, you should reduce the resolution and FPS (frames per seconds).
Full HD (1080p) and 30fps is usually sufficient for the most common formats (TV, YouTube, etc.)
