Pictures are misleading and are far from the final product. Since I did not install it and returned it, I am not sure if I should write a review for it or not! A big thorn in my side was the misleading pictures. They look very much like a heatspreader or thermal pad is stuck over all the components. As is the case with the Kingston Fury SSDs. In the end, however, there is only a small item identification sticker on it. For me, this is mostly about principle. We as consumers are already being led around by the nose enough. Heat, installed in a desktop, is not really a problem of PCIe 4.0 SSD's, they even run most efficiently above about 60 degrees. Nevertheless, a heatspreader helps to distribute heat better. As I said, it's a matter of principle. It is precisely because of principles that I feel it is wrong to evaluate a product as a whole on the basis of a discrepancy that I have not even tested.
The product looks exactly like this, doesn't it? You can see very well that it only has a thin layer on the chips, like the Crucial P3. Heatspreaders are actually always thicker.
You probably looked at the variant with heatspreader (https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/wd-black-sn850x-mit-heatsink-2000-gb-m2-2280-ssd-21635317), but this is the one without. At Digitec, you even have a quick selection with or without a heat sink when you take a closer look at the product.
