"I've been thinking about buying an ink pad for a long time, but I can't decide between this one and remarkable2. Is this suitable for that? How is the writing feeling? Do you have good software with templates? Or rather RM2?
I asked myself the same question a few weeks ago. I find RM2 a bit nicer and better for writing. However, it bothered me that I would have to buy a data subscription from RM. Since I work a lot with Google Drive and Microsoft OneNote, I decided on the Onyx Boox Air 2.
I recommend watching several YouTube clips of both devices, then you will know everything you need to know for your decision đ
I have no experience with the Remarkable2, but I am very satisfied with the Onyx Note Air 2. Since I work a lot with PDFs, I chose the Onyx at the time. It is very fast and handles PDFs extremely well. On the subject of writing: - Writing feel is good (I use the standard pen that comes with it). - you can have your palm on the pad and write - no problems! - Latency (delay) is very acceptable and you can write smoothly. - Character recognition works surprisingly well (in German, French and English). <- of course this depends on many factors, especially what kind of handwriting you have :-) - With the latest firmware update (from October), it is now finally possible to load the recognised and converted handwriting input onto the clipboard and insert it into other note sheets as a text box (i.e. real text!). This was the most annoying thing at first. But it works well now. - The app that comes with it (Notes) supports different layers and you have different templates with guides etc. You can insert pictures, voice recordings etc.. You can insert pictures, voice recordings, etc. It all works well - but you have to get used to it. - Alternatively, you can use MS OneNote (included as a customised app). But I don't have much experience yet. I'm also not a big fan of Microsoft Cloud stories ...
All in all, a good pad. If you're a frequent writer, you should also look around in the 13" league. The Note Air 2's size of just over 10" is very good for me, though, as it's still light and portable.
