Is 0.4Mbit/s enough for a Reolink surveillance camera?
My experience with the cards is extremely bad as they use the Sunrise network which is constantly overbooked. At various times of the day, the connection drops out despite a good signal. The support team couldn't help either, even though they tried very hard. In the end they said it was Sunrise's problem.
It may be that there are other cells that work better but for me Sunrise is over, even with mobile SIM cards the network is not usable.
I doubt whether the 0.4Mbps will work with the fluctuations for a cam.
A Salt SIM worked better for me...
I would not feel comfortable with it. You'll definitely not have high frame rate and resolution.
When I lower the resolution to 2304x1296 on my camera, and decrease the FPS to 2, the network traffic is around 40-50 KB/sec, which is about 0.32-0.4Mbit/s. So it might handle it, but it's very borderline.
Btw, the lowest setting for "Maximum bitrate" limit in Reolink camera settings is "1024kbps", which is 1 Mbit/s.
I think that's too short. I would ask reolink or consult the manual.
From the Internet:
The data usage of the Reolink camera depends on the bit rate. Live streaming for 1 hour in clear mode (standard bit rate: 1.5 Mbps) requires approximately 1 GB of data. With 1 GB you can watch live streaming in liquid mode (standard bit rate: 160 kbps) for 10 hours.
So the 0.4Mbps is a bit tight. With IOT, however, you can increase the plan to a higher speed without any problems (on the IOT website). So start with a lower speed, then adjust to a higher data rate if necessary. Of course, this costs a little more.
I have used the IOT data for technical installations (heating systems) and privately for downloads, so far it has always worked without any problems!
Oh, that doesn't sound good. But thank you very much.
