Hello
Can a simple microphone (e.g. RODE VideoMic Me) also be connected via a 3.5mm jack? If not, are there XLR adapters for this?
Many thanks in advance
Hello, No, unfortunately this is not possible. For the Rode VideoMic Me to work, you need an adapter (for stereo 2) such as "JTS MA-500 Phantom Power" or perhaps better "Rode - VXLR Pro". On the Zoom F3 you then have to switch on 48V phantom power for each channel individually. The adapter is used to reduce the 48V phantom power to a level that is tolerable for the microphone with "PlugIn Power". The Rode VideoMicMe appears to be such a plug-in power mic. If you connect it directly without a phantom power adapter, the mic will grill ch-ch-ch if the phantom power is switched on. Without phantom power switched on, the mic gets no power and remains muted. The Rode VXLR Pro is probably the most sensible choice for the Rode mic. Best regards and have fun recording.
