Dreame A2
3000 m², Without boundary wire
Hello everyone I am very interested in this miracle of technology. However, my garden is spread over 4 floors (not mobile from floor to floor) with relatively small areas. WLAN is available everywhere. I realise that I would have to move the device manually from floor to floor. But I don't want to have to move the station every time. Does anyone have any information on whether this is necessary or not? Many thanks!
Yes, you can use the Dreame A2 to mow lawns that are not connected to the charging station - but there are a few important points to bear in mind:
⸻
🗺️ 1. Multiple maps and zones
- The A2 supports two separate maps ("Dual-Map Management"), ideal for e.g. separate front and back gardens .
- You can define several mowing zones within each map (zone mowing), including individual starting points and settings .
⸻
⚡ 2. two maps, one or two charging stations?
- For completely separate areas without a path connection, you need a second charging station so that the robot can start, mow and charge - one station for each map .
- If there is a connecting path between the areas, one station is sufficient as the A2 can then drive back itself .
⸻
🚜 3. manual transport instead of automatic return
- If you do not install a second station, you can transport the A2 manually to a remote area - e.g. to bridge a barrier (stairs, hedge, etc.).
- Then start it in the desired mode (e.g. "Zone Mowing" or "Manual") via the app or by pressing a button.
- After mowing, however, you have to carry it back to the charging station manually, otherwise it won't find it itself.
⸻
✅ 4. summary of the options
Option Route to station available? Second station required? Automatic operation? Manual operation?
1 card, 1 ward ✅ Yes ❌ No ✅ Yes -
2 cards, but connected ✅ Yes ❌ No ✅ Yes -
2 cards, separated (e.g. via fence) ❌ No ✅ Yes ✅ Yes (for both) -
Single remote piece, carried by you ❌ - ❌ ❌ ❌ ✅ Yes (start/retrieve manually)
⸻
🔧 Conclusion
- Yes, you can mow separate lawns even if they are not connected to the charging station.
- With 2 charging stations, you can treat two completely separate areas as fully automated areas.
- Without a second station, it's a manual solution: carry the A2 there, start it via the app and pick it up after mowing.
Yes, if the surfaces are not connected, it needs a station for each according to the current firmware.
