I recently switched from an old Galaxy Tab S 8.4 as a reader to the Tolino Vision 5 and was immediately a little annoyed that I hadn't done so earlier. The reader doesn't have the range of functions of a tablet, but it's in a class of its own. What is immediately noticeable is that you can read in any lighting conditions in a relaxed way that is easy on the eyes, and the battery life is many times longer than with a tablet. In addition, the little guy is apparently almost indestructible and you can even take it into the bathtub without a guilty conscience... :)
From my point of view, there are two criticisms of the device. On the one hand, the operation is a bit hacky at times and on the other hand, it is a pity that the Tolino cannot read all common eBook formats and Word documents. Fortunately, however, there are software and online services that can convert all conceivable formats. For example, directly in Word to PDF, or online from Kindle format to epub. Of course, this means a certain amount of work and only works on a PC, but I find 10 minutes of work on the computer for many hours of reading pleasure quite bearable.
In any case, the Tolino is now my constant companion and I am thrilled with the device.

Some file formats are proprietary, so simply displaying them would not be allowed. The fact that you find the operation somewhat awkward is most likely due to the change from an LCD to an eInk display. These react more slowly and need a little more patience than you are used to during the adjustment phase.¨
I'm glad to read that you like the tolino and I hope you continue to enjoy it.
