Cat6 cables are designed for operating frequencies up to 250 MHz. They are used for signal transmission with high data transmission rates (1 Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, particular care must be taken during installation and assembly, especially at the connection points of the cores. The individual wire pairs in Cat6 are twisted differently, which reduces susceptibility to interference even more than in Cat5e. Areas of application for Cat 6 cables are voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks. Cables according to Cat6e (500 MHz) and Cat6a (625 MHz) are even more powerful.
