Product details
These patch cables are characterized by their high quality and are suitable for Gigabit connections with an operating frequency of up to 100 MHz. Although these patch cables are manufactured only for Category 5e, Wirewin also uses 100% copper cables here. Applications for Category 5e cables include all services of Class D, such as voice, multimedia, and data transmission, as well as ATM networks. The shielding of the wires is provided by a total foil shield. Additionally, the cable features a special strain relief and a halogen-free jacket that is highly flame-resistant. The extremely halogen-free jacket ensures that no toxic substances can escape in the event of a fire. The strain reliefs, designed to be particularly narrow, allow for comfortable cabling even with larger switches with 48 ports or more. Unlike conventional PVC cables, these cables are halogen-free: the dangerous release of halogen-containing combustion gases is thus excluded, and smoke generation is minimized. Halogen-free cables are also flame-retardant and do not exhibit a dangerous ignition cord effect. In F/UTP cables, all twisted pairs are surrounded by a foil shield, meaning the overall shield consists of just one foil. Shielded cables show little impedance or reactance deviations compared to unshielded ones. The transmission parameters remain relatively constant even at high frequencies and are better than those of UTP cables. Cat 5 cables are used for signal transmission with high data transfer rates. They are designed for operating frequencies up to 100 MHz and are suitable for Fast or Gigabit Ethernet. The designation 5e comes from a revision of the standards ISO11801 and EN50173, which made them suitable for Gigabit Ethernet. Cat-5e cables are backward compatible with conventional Cat-5 cables and are sufficient for home users in almost all situations.
