Assassin's Creed Valhalla takes players to the Viking Age and tells the story of the Viking warrior Eivor. The player-controlled Eivor can be either a male or female warrior, depending on the player's choice. The gameplay mechanics also encompass a more versatile dual-wielding combat technique, allowing for the use of various fighting styles. Moreover, players can utilize their Viking ships' crews to conquer different regions and gather their riches.

However, the Saxons, such as King Aelfred of Wessex, do not make it easy for the Vikings, condemning these newcomers as godless pagans. Eivor must do everything possible for the survival of their people.
