The Story
Experience the tale of Theoderich of Akenburg, a disillusioned former crusader shaped by the horrors of war. Due to events set in motion 15 years ago, when he and his comrade Ulrich von Grevel discovered part of the ancient artifact Aaron's Staff, he is called back into battle. A young monk named Malcolm delivers the news to Theoderich that the staff holds a power not meant for mortals, and Ulrich is obsessed with finding the remaining pieces to assemble the staff, which could unleash immeasurable evil and suffering upon the world. Theoderich must now find the remaining relics to prevent them from falling into Ulrich's hands. He embarks on a journey that takes him through Europe and the Middle East, where he encounters many other warriors who wish to join his cause: from the old and experienced Reinhard von Kempten of the Teutonic Order to the ambitious young merchant Grimhild Eidottr and her raven company. Each of them has their own reasons for joining, but gradually bonds are formed that will endure through the upcoming trials and tribulations.
