With the T1700, Thomson delivers a chic-looking player for a very modest 200 euros that even sounds quite decent when the integrated phono stage is bypassed. But it suffers from some glaring detail weaknesses. The French are thus missing a good opportunity. Perhaps Thomson will revisit the basic concept, then it will be exciting.
