The AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU Guard from Thermal Grizzly is a foam seal that fills the recesses on the IHS during the installation of the CPU cooler, protecting the electronic components on the CPU package from thermal compounds.
The heat spreaders of the Ryzen 7000 processors feature recesses along the edges. These recesses contain electronic components on the CPU package. Additionally, the IHS does not seal against the PCB of the package in these areas. This can lead to contamination and damage to the CPU.
