Product details
At SparkFun, we use many Arduinos and are constantly searching for the simplest, most stable model. Each board is a little different, and no board has everything we want, so we decided to create our own version that combines all our favorite features. The SparkFun RedBoard brings together the simplicity of the UNO's Optiboot bootloader, the stability of FTDI, and the R3 shield compatibility of the latest Arduino UNO R3.
The RedBoard can be programmed using the Arduino IDE via a USB Mini-B cable: simply connect the board, select "Arduino UNO" from the board menu, and you can upload code. The RedBoard features all the hardware peripherals you know and love: 14 digital I/O pins with 6 PWM pins, 6 analog inputs, UART, SPI, and external interrupts. We have also brought out the SDA, SCL, and IOREF pins that appeared on the UNO R3, ensuring that the RedBoard will be compatible with future shields. This version adds an SMD ISP connector for use with shields. You can power the RedBoard via USB or through the barrel jack. The built-in voltage regulator can handle voltages from 7 to 15 VDC.
