Product details
The SparkFun Battery Babysitter is an all-in-one single-cell lithium manager for polymer (LiPo) batteries. It is part battery charger, part battery monitor, and everything you will ever need to operate your battery safely and comprehensively.
The Battery Babysitter features a pair of Texas Instruments LiPo management ICs: a battery charger BQ24075 and a fuel gauge BQ27441-G1A. The charger supports adjustable charge rates of up to 1.5 A, as well as USB-compliant 100 mA and 500 mA options. It also provides power path management, ensuring your project remains powered even when the battery is empty. The self-calibrating, I2C-based BQ27441-G1A measures your battery's voltage to estimate the state of charge and remaining capacity. It is also connected to a current-sensing resistor, allowing for current and power measurements. It is a handy IC to have when you need to keep a close eye on your project's energy requirements.
Features:
* Combines LiPo charger and LiPo fuel gauge on a single board
* Selectable charge rates of 100 mA, 500 mA, or 1.5 A via DIP switches
* MicroUSB port for charging or external options
* Dynamic power path management ensures reliable output power
* On/Off switch disconnects the battery for more energy savings
* 5V-tolerant I2C interface for fuel gauge
* The fuel gauge measures voltage, percentage, and current.
