High-resolution image quality is achieved through exclusive glass elements with low color dispersion and NPC. One FLD glass element and five SLD glass elements are arranged to suppress chromatic aberrations up to the edge of the image. Three aspherical lenses, including a large-diameter aspherical lens as the front element, effectively minimize coma and other distortions, resulting in stunning resolution. The Super Multi-Layer coating is combined with a newly developed NPC (Nano Porous Coating). The lens is designed to be less susceptible to strong incoming light, such as backlighting.

A comprehensive range of features ensures user confidence even in challenging conditions. The incorporation of a stepping motor enables fast and quiet autofocus operation. Shooting is comfortable even with field autofocus, such as face detection and eye detection autofocus, as well as during video recordings. The AFL button, which can be assigned various functions, expands the lens's operational range. Additionally, the lens features a dust- and splash-proof construction, along with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front lens, further supporting photography in various environments.

A rear filter holder is included as standard equipment. The lens comes with a rear filter holder for attaching filter sheets, which is equipped with a fall protection locking mechanism.
