The SITOP PSE200U selectivity module distributes the load current across several 24 V branches and reliably monitors them for overloads and short circuits. The electronics allow for short-term current spikes, e.g. caused by high inrush current, but de-energise branches experiencing prolonged overloads. This is ensured even on high-impedance cables and in the event of ‘creeping’ short circuits. In such cases, circuit breakers either fail to trip or trip too late, even if the power supply unit could provide the necessary tripping current. The SITOP supplementary module continues to supply the intact branch circuits with 24 V without any interruption or feedback, thereby preventing a total system failure where necessary.
