Roline Fiber optic cable

The OM4 fiber is a 50 µm optimized fiber with extended bandwidth. It is used to enhance system performance for existing 1 and 10 Gb/s applications as well as future 40 and 100 Gb/s applications. The OM4 fiber supports Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and OIF applications, enabling longer distances of over 550 m at 10 Gb/s and for extremely long building backbones and medium-length campus backbones. With an effective modal bandwidth (EMB, also known as laser bandwidth) of 4700 MHz-km (more than double the IEEE requirement for 10 Gb/s at 300 meters), the OM4 fiber is also particularly well-suited for shorter distances in data centers, as well as for high-performance computing applications.

At lower data rates such as 100 Mb/s or 1 Gb/s, the OM4 performs on par with OM2 or OM3 fibers. Its true strengths are realized at data rates of 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s with ranges of 550 m and 300 m, respectively.

All ROLINE OM4 fiber optic cables are designed as duplex cables with a fiber type of 50/125 µm. The cables are terminated with high-quality connectors, achieving excellent values for insertion loss and reflection. Available lengths: 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, and 20 m. Outer color: violet.
