    Buy a real antenna with a plug-in card for a pci e connection. that's a world away!

    Absolute disaster!
Constant interruptions every 3 minutes, long charging time.
    Not recommended at all.
I bought this part because the alternative costs around 500. But maybe I'll spend the 500 anyway, then at least I'll
    have reliable reception!

    Completely unreliable, waste of money

First of all, the included installation CD did not work, had to download and install the driver from the Netgear website. Once the device was installed, the internet connection kept dropping out. Completely useless product.

After switching from 802.11n to 802.11ac, I see...

After switching from 802.11n to 802.11ac, I no longer see any difference between LAN and WLAN when accessing the Internet (UPC Cablecom, 125 MBit/s) with speedtest.net. The bandwidth is stable at the maximum over the full measurement.

Use requires installation of the driver before connecting the device.

1st installation attempt (for connections without GUI): Had some trouble, as there are 2 configurations, one for connections with GUI, one for connections without GUI. The manual shows it differently. Therefore I had to deactivate a programme in the Windows startup, reboot (so that the files are not blocked by the process) and uninstall.
At the second installation attempt (for connections with GUI): ran smoothly.

After the installation everything else runs to the best satisfaction. Because of the setup, only 4 stars instead of 5.

Excellent wifi adapter, I had to get it for myself.

Excellent wifi adapter, I had to get it because the one from Dlink (the reference is the DWA-182) was very good..for a while, then I had only stalls/untimely connection to the network.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea
to buy a new one, but I'm sure it's a good idea to buy a new one, and I'm not sure if it's a good idea to buy a new one.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use the same software as the dlink, but I'm sure it's a good idea to use the same software as the dlink...

The software that comes with it is clear! No superfluous frills like you can see on the dlink software (too bad you can't share the pictures on the review...) they made the effort to simplify and also to put plenty of advanced options for the geeks.

I've never had a disconnection after a month of testing, so it's fine on that side. I've even gained in Ping, so it's clear on that side. I've even gained in ping, so it's clear on this side. (for those who don't know, it's the latency time between the response of the wifi adapter to a server)

So you tell me what are the disadvantages of this wifi adapter then?

There is just one: the cable of the support is long...too long and then I wondered where I will place it...

In summary, this is the almost "perfect" network adapter!
Its only defect is not enough to lower its maximum score (not disturbing in the end), so you have the green light to buy it ;)

    Pro

    • Network hook-up RAS
    • No network disconnection
    • Fast and efficient installation
    • Clear, neat software...(for computer beginners)
    • ...Packed with advanced options for geeks like me :D

    Contra

    • Cable a little too long...(Some quibble..Had to find a drawback..) ;)

Finally a stable Wi-Fi stick - on both Windows and Linux

Now that we are in the age of 802.11ac and 802.11ax, I had been looking to completely get rid of network cables, even for my desktop machines and Linux server. Because of bad experiences with Wi-Fi sticks using Realtek chipsets, I was looking for something not made by Realtek that is more stable and has drivers for both Windows and Linux. The Netgear A6210 is what I found.

This stick uses a Mediatek MT7612U chipset. It of course comes with a Windows driver, but also works out of the box on recent Linux versions (Kernel 4.19 and higher) - no extra drivers required. I use it both under Windows and Linux and the drivers have been stable so far; installing the Windows driver takes a bit of work and it comes with a connection utility that looks like it came from 2007, but does its job very well.

Connection stability and speed are overall much better than with the Realtek-based sticks I have been using in the past few years. The Netgear A6210 has two features that help a lot for this: its top is an antenna that you can unfold for better signal quality, and it comes with a dock. With a USB extension code roughly 80 cm long, the dock allows you to place the stick next to or on top of your PC where it usually gets a much better signal than if it were just hanging behind the machine.

I am very satisfied with the purchase. The stick fulfills the goal entirely: with its help and a well-placed Wi-Fi router and repeater, I did end up getting rid of all network cables and can now place my server and desktop machines wherever I want.

    Pro

    • Stable connection
    • Good network speeds
    • Foldable antenna + extension dock
    • Works out of the box on Linux

    Contra

    • A bit bulky
    • Windows driver installation
