Nine, but the same types should be bought. Either all have the CMR recording method or all have SMR. This is something to watch out for. The NAS does not care whether it is a Plus or Pro disk.
Here are the dimensions for the Western Digital WD Red Plus 10TB hard drive and some information about its compatibility with the Synology DS923 NAS:
## Dimensions of WD Red Plus 10TB
- Height: 1.028 inches (26.1 mm)
- Length: 5.787 inches (147 mm)
- Width: 4 inches (101.6 mm)
- Weight: Approximately 1.65 pounds (0.75 kg).
## Compatibility with Synology DS923 NAS
The WD Red Plus 10TB hard drive is designed for NAS environments and is compatible with Synology NAS systems, including the DS923. These drives are optimized for RAID-optimized NAS systems with up to 8 bays and feature NASware 3.0 technology, which enhances compatibility, integration, and reliability in NAS environments.
I bought such a WD red plus 10TB a few weeks ago, at that time the price was stated a few CHF differently (269.- due to currency fluctuations). So you can currently calculate the price per TB yourself (among other things in the product comparison).
Side note: I replaced in an ICY box (4 HDs) one of the three 4 WD red Plus 4TB (another 4TB was replaced earlier with an 8TB) with the same type of 10 TB. Purpose: hourly, automatic backups of my iMac with TimeMachine. Unfortunately, the 10TB red plus often says goodbye after a few hours. I am now mounting this in another enclosure and see where the fault lies.... (Contacts or narrow-bodied ICY box?)
Hello.
I'm a bit lost.
My HD (10 TB, WD100EFAX-68LHPN0, S/N 7JJR5SGC, bought 2018 at Galaxus) from the WDEx2Ultra (2x10TB, Raid) hung up the day before yesterday. Message 1: Disk 2 faulty, error code 208 / Message 2: Drive in bay 2 failed, error code 201. Since then, strangely, I can't access any jpg, mp3, mp4, mov, etc. -files any more. I am now trying to buy a replacement HD and hope to fix the problem with the replacement. Now there are two products with 10TB: "WD Red Plus" and "WD Red Pro". Do I have to pay attention to anything? Are both compatible? The differences are in direct comparison (what I can see at least) only in the transfer rate, weight and standby power consumption. I would be grateful for any expert advice! :-) Thanks in advance!
