According to the latest information, Sonos has released several fixes for Surround/Sub Audio and Trueplay. However, we cannot currently find any clear official confirmation that the specific functional error with the product in combination with Era 100 has been completely resolved.
The Sonos products should actually all be compatible with each other, provided the updates have always been carried out. Sonos also states the same on its homepage.

The app does not need to be switched on permanently, but you must open it to make settings. You can adjust the volume directly on the soundbar or via the app. The app is required for detailed settings, such as bass adjustment.
The soundbar is primarily intended for the TV/projector and is connected via the eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), which transmits the sound from the TV to the Sonos Arc Ultra. This means that the DVD/CD player is connected to the TV via HDMI, as is the soundbar.
It would also be possible via an AV receiver (additional device for processing various input sources) if your TV/projector does not support eARC.
