Hello. The Dex Station is only the interface between your mobile phone and the input/output devices. You can attach as many handsets as you want to the docking station. The software is in the phone.

The USB C port is for charging only and the charger MUST be connected for operation. Monitor connection via HDMI is mandatory.
The Dex, as well as the Galaxy S8(+), use a USB 3.1 port for charging. The charger from the S8 should therefore be able to be used.
