The ASUS ROG B550-E GAMING motherboard is compatible with the Samsung 990 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD. This drive uses the PCIe 4.0 interface, which the motherboard supports via its M.2 slots. Make sure you configure the settings correctly in the BIOS to optimise performance.

Helpful answer

The Samsung 990 Pro is not officially certified for use as a storage pool on the Synology DS923+. Synology recommends using their own M.2 NVMe SSDs for storage pools, such as the SNV3410. However, the 990 Pro can be used for caching as it is compatible with the M.2 NVMe slot. Workarounds such as special scripts may be required for use as a storage pool, but these are not officially supported.

I have this SSD running in conjunction with a Ryzen 9 7950x3d and have no problems at all, it is recognised by the Samsung Software Magician, maintained etc. Nevertheless, you should ask Lenovo Support here the link....https://support.lenovo.com/ch/de

Hello, since I have an ASUS WS X299 Sage/10G motherboard, and it does not have PCIe 4.0, doubling the bandwidth per lane compared to PCIe 3.0, so the samsung 990 can't go over 2400M/s which is not good for video editing, instead of 7400m/s, I would have to change the motherboard, and the processor to exploit its potential, it's frustrating because every time you buy good hardware, you have to change the rest, and you go in circles.
