Most mainboards come with a cooler, which is quite sufficient. Mounted on a mainboard without a cooler is also sufficient if the enclosure is well ventilated.
The SSD has 2 temperature sensors, so you can see if the SSD is getting too warm. Temperatures <80 degrees are completely OK.
Yes, it works, but not in the way you imagine.
You have two small M.2 slots on the mainboard, both can be used, but I would take the one closer to the CPU.
Of course, you can also buy an additional PCIe adapter and plug the SSD in like this... But that doesn't do anything except that you spend more money ;-)
Nein, Apple hat beim neuen Mac Pro andere Pins für den Storage. Guter Artikel dazu: https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/06/10/apple-is-using-a-custom-connector-for-the-ssd-in-the-new-mac-pro
Hello Atm01, I have installed four such bars, Samsung 970 EVO Plus, on my board, Asus Maximus Extreme XI. After 12 hours of continuous operation, they have an average temperature of 41.5 degrees. This seems to me to be the normal temperature for such SSDs. I think it's more likely due to the fan system on the case with the corresponding supply and exhaust air. But 50 to 55 degrees is not a critical issue.
Greetings Skunky77
I bought this for a gaming laptop because of space. Works great. You probably will not notice the difference apart from a second or two on boot but at the moment there is a 4 CHF difference between the 870 2TB and the 870 EVO plus so go for the M2

Hello,
Thank you very much for your request.
If your motherboard has an M.2 slot, you can use this SSD.
To be able to use the full performance of the SSD, the M.2 slot should have PCIe 3.0 with 4 lanes.
If in doubt, please contact the device manufacturer directly.

Hello
Unfortunately, I have no experience with a laptop. I have installed this SSD in an HP Desktop mini and it has been running perfectly since installation.

Hello,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus is not compatible with the iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5, 2017 - iMac18.2).
This SSD can be used if the motherboard has an M.2 slot. To use the full performance of the SSD, the M.2 slot should have PCIe 3.0 with 4 lanes.
Alternatively, we recommend the Samsung 870 QVO, 870 EVO, 860 PRO.
If in doubt, please enquire directly with Apple support.
Kind regards from Schwalbach

The second SSD has nothing directly to do with the first. They do not have to fit together for any particular reason. What you have to make sure is that the SSD fits together with your mainboard.
Hi Noel
Technically yes BUT the Windows version you have on the M.2 will recognise that the serial number of the mainboard is different and start to tell you that the version is no longer on the same computer. If you have linked your Windows 10 key with an online Microsoft account, this problem can be solved by deleting the old PC from the licences in the Microsoft account. ATTENTION: It is highly recommended to read the product key on the old PC with a Windows 10 product key reader in order to reactivate the old Windows 10 version on the new PC. You can also do this on your new PC and use the Windows 10 product key as desired. You should also remove the new M.2 in the new PC first, otherwise the PC will boot the new operating system. Alternatively, you can also use an image programme like this one Acronis True Image 2021 Box 1 (Unlimited, 1x, Android, iOS, Windows, macOS) to make an image of your old computer and copy it back to the new one. It is then virtually a one-to-one copy.
However, I would recommend that you only transfer the data you really need to the new device. It's a clean thing to do and you can usually reinstall the programmes you need without further ado.
Greetings John
My 970 EVO Plus got between 50 and 55°C hot during operation. So I mounted a Cooler ICY BOX IB-M2HS-701 on it and now the M.2 gets 45-47°C warm. But what I notice is that the chips on the M.2 are not all the same height. The memory chips are the highest, the controller is medium high and there is something very low in between. Thus, the ICY BOX cooler does not have an optimal contact surface despite the thermopad.
Furthermore, I don't know whether I should remove the adhesive on the M.2 before mounting the thermopad on it. Will it make a difference in terms of temperature? Or is there a better solution than the ICY BOX, for example with a heat sink where the contact surface has different heights?

To find the right SSD for you and your system, take a look at the "SSD Configurator" on the Samsung homepage.
With a few short questions and in just a few minutes, we will find the right SSD for you.
To do this, please go directly to the Samsung homepage and place the mouse pointer over the "Computer" category, which is listed in the upper part of the screen.
Under the category "Recommended" you will find the "SSD Configurator", which you should select.
Alternatively, you can find the "SSD Configurator" by simply typing "Samsung - Which SSD is right for me?" into a search engine.
On the following pages you will be asked about your system and your personal requirements in order to find the right product for you.
Regarding your question about the SSD not overheating during operation, we can tell you that the drive module of the 970 EVO PLus is equipped with a thin heat spreader, and the Dynamic Thermal Guard function constantly monitors the drive. An optimal temperature is thus maintained.
