The following security type can be selected in the WLAN settings under Advanced WLAN settings: "WPA2/WPA3 Personal, mixed". It should therefore be possible as long as all nodes in the mesh support this security type. The Velop WiFi 6 AX can therefore do this.

As far as I understand, all Linksys Mesh systems are compatible with each other. I recommend updating the Linksys application and configuring the new "parent" in this way. The "child" devices will then take over the configuration. Only Apple Homekit does not work if you mix different devices.

The Velop can do everything, these options are nothing that the user has to set, that's why you won't find them. What you do have to look for is that the ISP router is set to passthrough. Not all of them can do this, for example the Sunrise box or their Fritzbox are restricted in this respect and you cannot operate your own router with Sunrise, which I am still angry about today.

I don't know how big your house is or how thick your walls are. But these Linksys Velop WiFi 6 are certainly stronger in range and give me the same WiFi speed whether connected by cable or via WiFi.... - For me the perfect product and absolutely recommendable - Whether you need less of the parts in your house, I think so. Switching to this new version is certainly worth it.
