According to our information from the manufacturer, this is unfortunately not possible because the foot together with the housing is a single piece.

It is a USB Type C. But the Thunderbolt port is also compatible with the USB 3.1 protocol.

No, the hard drive has a (1x) USB-C connector that can transmit USB 3.1. Even though Thunderbolt 3 uses the same connectors, it is a different signal that is not compatible with each other.
Only one lamp which serves as a status indicator for the HD function...
The speed limitation is "on the data sheet" the hard disk and not the USB 3.0 interface.
