Here is a hint why the CPU is so expensive: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Coffee-Lake-S-Codename-266879/News/Intel-Sechskerner-teurer-Preis-1264632/
No, socket is the Same, but you need the new Z370 Chipset.

Hello, the Intel i7-8700k beats the Ryzen 7 1700 in practically all public benchmark tests. Yes, it is "better" or faster and you will get a few more FPS in the combination.
I have the be quiet! Dark Rock 3 (16cm), it is very nice
The best way to check this is on the mainboard manufacturer's website, where there is a CPU support list. I suspect not, since 100 chipsets support up to Intel's 7th generation, and even then only partially.
...this is an offer from JACOB DE that is processed via Digitec!
Until last year, I had 2x Saphire 580 something in it ... went quite well. You just have to see which games are supported.
...best to look on YouTube with the name of the games!
28.11 is Black Friday. You have a good chance. You probably won't get a better answer. :)
until the number of pieces is sold, but not quite sure... maybe ask the customer service :)
Hello Eyera Basically, the CPU socket is correct, but the chipset is the problem. Intel 8th Gen CPUs require 300 chipsets (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025694/processors/intel-core-processors.html). Ergo, you need a new mainboard. The question if at all: Basically, there are two types of bottlenecks in gaming: Either GPU or CPU. High resolution and high details require more graphics power, so the GPU is usually the bottleneck - the CPU can easily keep up with the (relatively low) frame rate. Low resolution (as in your case with 1080p) and low (depending on the game also high) detail settings mean less work for the graphics card, which results in a high frame rate. At some point, however, the CPU will have trouble keeping up. Of course, this all depends on the game. But as you can see, if you want to achieve high FPS (which is what you want with your 240Hz monitor), the CPU is more likely to become the bottleneck. In summary: Yes, it would be worth it. Then there's the question of which CPU. With the H170 chipset board, the max new CPU would probably be the i7 7700K (double check). If you want newer, you'd have to get a new motherboard - then you could consider waiting for the new Ryzen (should be coming soon), which would probably be the most interesting in terms of performance.
2666 MHz is the standard memory frequency for this processor. Using an XMP profile or manual overclocking, the memory can also be operated at a higher frequency. This is usually listed in more detail on the mainboard itself, what exactly is supported and what is not. There is usually also a QVL list in the support area, which tells which RAM modules have been tested at which speed and therefore also work.
No. You need a mainboard with a 300 series chipset. The 8th and 9th generation Intel processors are not compatible with a 100 or 200 series chipset.
Since when did it ever come with thermal paste? If it was supposed to come with a cooler, it always had a thermal pad attached to the cooler.
As far as I know, this will not work because your socket does not match the processor. On the Asus website (https://www.asus.com/ch-de/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_IV_EXTREME/) it says that the socket on the mainboard is LGA 2011. The processor needs an LGA 1151 socket.
it would be interesting to know on which mainboard this CPU should run, then you can determine the RAM more precisely and also see what the budget allows :-)
I would go for the 8700k. it's about 20% faster at gaming than the 2700X.
There is never a radiator on K models. ✌️
I assume you mean the thermal paste. No, this is included with the cooler, if at all. My recommendation: Arctic Silver 5 (3.50g, 9W/m K) or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (1g, 12.50W/m K)
That's not because of Digitec. The prices of the i7 8700k are currently rising at all providers. But what I also noticed is that digitec has already landed in the upper range with its prices. For example, the cheapest offer in Switzerland is just around 400.- euros.
