Hi, is this box compatible with HDDs or hard drives over 14TB, such as the Toshiba X300? The technical documentation says unlimited, but this corresponds to the state of the art (year of release and maximum available TB per HDD at that time).

If it were a forest and meadow manufacturer, possibly. But if Icy Box writes it, it is. The older generation still knows these problems with capacity limitations from the past. If you tell this to Gen Z, they'll be amazed at the problems they used to have...

My existing hard drive no longer shows up on the computer. So I wanted to buy an external enclosure and try it that way. I hope I don't have to format anything? Otherwise it would be pretty pointless.

Yes, you do not need to format. Install and connect. With Windows, the ACL may deny you access to your data. In this case, the easiest way is to run cmd as admin and save the data with xcopy. Check the SMART parameters of the disc, the disc may have exceeded an error counter. In this case, depending on the manufacturer, a special tool may be necessary for recovery. Good luck
