Basically no: to get into the WLAN with the stick, it needs DHCP à priori. The product description says "standard SIM". This was already the case when I bought my stick. Standard SIM means the large SIM. The others are called either Mini or Nano. I also use the SIM in the stick with an adapter and it works for me without any problems.
