I can't compare them because I don't know the two devices. But yes, scanning with the HP via the automatic feeder is often crooked, I can confirm that. What I like about the HP is that when the toner runs out, a warning message appears, but printing is not made impossible. I am not familiar with this model, but I had an MFP M476dw and could not print if a cartridge was empty. I would recommend the Brother MFC-L3770CDW which has a "reset-toner" procedure that greatly extends the print time and allows you to print even if a cartridge is empty. Enjoy!
