Joa, would fit, but any G.Skill RAM is also highly recommended (Ripjaws, Trident, etc.). At the moment, prices are extremely high for all components, so think carefully about whether you want to build a system now or only in about 6-12 months when prices have normalised again.
ps: what I want to tell you is that it's not only about what your mainboard supports, but much more about what your CPU supports and is still accepted by the mainboard :D or something.
Yes, I have also had this problem. I use a switched power strip - accordingly, I didn't notice anything for a long time.
I also have a Linux on the computer - but that makes no difference. IMHO, this is more a problem with the board than with the operating system.
Yes it works! I have this motherboard myself and use the following RAM:
G.Skill Trident Z Neo (2 x 16GB, DDR4-3600, DIMM 288 pin)
I have also used various other RAM sticks on it, so don't worry.
yes, that's a nice box :) I also own the Ryzen 9 5950x, I have the smaller brother of your Asus board (a ROG Strix X570-E) and I can only report good things. As a software developer, I can use as much power as I want from many cores, I'm not much of a gamer in the classic sense, but I guess you won't use all the cores of the Ryzen 9 5950x for gaming - but more for editing videos. Have you had a look at the G.Skill Trident Z? If you value looks, I can only recommend them.
Any restrictions should be noted in the manual https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_CROSSHAIR_VIII_DARK_HERO/E17453_ROG_CROSSHAIR_VIII_DARK_HERO_UM_V2_WEB.pdf
For me, the clock is always set to 40, I have the amd 9 5900x installed but unfortunately I don't understand exactly what you want to know or what it is. I could offer you to have a look at it on my PC.
1) Is the AMP profile for the G.Skill Trident Z active in the bios?
2) Is the current bios installed?
3) Are all official and current drivers installed?
4) What does a reboot look like when you think there is no error message? Instant Black / Power Off ?
The Dark Hero has a feature for overclocking that no other board has so far. Dynamic OC Switcher.
It also has no fan on the chipset, Ryzen 5000 support out of the box and the VRM's are designed for 90 mAh instead of 50 mAh. Further details can be found in the comparison.

I ordered the 10G, apparently more people ordered them....
I can recommend the IPS panels with 144Hz from LG. They are available in various sizes / resolutions. (I have the LG 27GL850-B, great for photo/video editing and gaming).
I've been waiting since the beginning of January! But instead of "more than 10 ordered" it says since yesterday only 2 ordered... maybe finally a good sign?
As January update:
Ordered almost exactly a month ago: in that time the date on this product page kept getting pushed back. However, in the order status it said "will be shipped by x.1.2021 to x.2.2021" after now exactly 4 weeks of postponements I was then put off with "The supplier has not delivered the goods to us". Anyone with similar experience with a January order? It seems Digitec has 0 idea what they have in stock and what they don't. The statement "more than X ordered from the supplier" can be safely smoked and regarded as "We have no idea".
It's a shame and I also paid for the product in advance. : /
Hello, I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
1. my graphics card is also connected via PCI 3.0 and the whole thing runs excellently for me. as far as I know, the mainboard shouldn't care which memory generation the graphics card has, and GDDR5 isn't that old either.
2. i use normal DDR4 RAM sticks (Corsair Dominator) and have no problems with them. according to the operating instructions, you can only install two, but you have to use the two correct memory banks or your system won't boot (everything is explained in the operating instructions).
3. the board is explicitly designed for the new Ryzen 5000s, so you don't need a UEFI update to boot them, I personally use the Ryzen 5900 and have no problems with it.
I hope the answers were helpful!
Does anyone else have the problem that when the PC is shut down (Windows - Shutdown), it can no longer be switched on (via the case)? It can only be switched on if the PC is completely disconnected from the power supply, e.g. via a switched socket or power strip. I noticed it more by chance because I have the PC on a switched socket and never actually shut down and then restart it. In the evening, I switch the socket off via SmartHome. But there are threads in the Asus forum that are full of them. Not only with the Dark Hero. Most of them talk about unsuccessful RMAs. Especially since you have to send it in and wouldn't have a board in that time. Even if you switch off the switched socket or power strip and then switch it on again within seconds, it still doesn't work. You effectively have to wait in a de-energised state until the white LED on the button on the board goes out.
Hello all
I've been using the Mobo with a 5900x for 3 weeks now and can't for the life of me get stable operation. I have constant reboots without any error message or other problems. The reboots only happen in idle mode, e.g. yt video or normal browsing. It does not happen under load.
Does anyone else have this problem. In the meantime I deactivated C-state and PBO, which makes it a little better, but the reboots still happen.
Here are my specs:
cpu: Amd 5900x
mobo: Dark Hero
gpu: ASUS GeForce CERBERUS GTX 1070TI A8G
ram: G.Skill Trident Z Neo (2x, 16GB, DDR4-3600, DIMM 288)
psu: Seasonic 850W gold
case: fractal design meshify 2
Yes, I also only have 8Pin with 5950X CPU and it runs without problems. I don't know how it looks with OverClocking. The power supply performance is probably sufficient for every conceivable CPU that you can plug onto this board. However, the decisive factor is which graphics card you want to put on it and how intensively you want to use it (OC or not). But I think up to and with RTX 3080 it should be enough (even with OC). RTX 3090 in normal operation too. Unfortunately, I don't know what the situation is with AMD graphics cards.
