This programming adapter features a CH340G chip that enables USB-to-serial communication. The adapter is perfect for programming the ESP-01. Unfortunately, the ESP-01 does not automatically enter flash or programming mode. To put the ESP-01 into this mode, GND must be connected to GPIO0 when plugging it in. The easiest way to do this is by inserting a wire or a resistor of less than 1 kOhm into GND and GPIO0 on the adapter. The ESP-01 can then be attached. Once the programming adapter is plugged into the USB port, the ESP-01 will be in programming mode and can receive programs from the Arduino software. If you want to copy a program later, the adapter must always be unplugged and plugged back in first.
