Proto-Pasta Carbon Fiber Composite HTPLA is a carbon fiber reinforced high-performance PLA. This combination allows for much stiffer 3D prints with excellent structural strength. The exceptional shape stability results from tremendous layer adhesion with very little deformation. The printed objects can withstand ambient temperatures of up to 155 °C. The reduced flexibility makes our carbon fiber HTPLA an ideal material for frames, supports, shells, propellers, and tools—essentially anything that requires high torsional rigidity. It is particularly appreciated by drone builders and RC hobbyists.

The embedded carbon content provides a matte finish with a noble sheen, which nearly makes the layer structure disappear at a layer height of 0.1 mm.

Suitable for all PLA-compatible printers that allow third-party filaments. A heated print bed is recommended but not strictly necessary. The printer should be equipped with a nozzle suitable for abrasive materials (e.g., stainless steel). Please also note the potential premature wear of feed components such as Bowden tubes, drive gears, nozzles, and other parts along the filament path.

Proven print settings are based on typical nozzle target values within a broad temperature range. HTPLA prints well at the lower end of the recommended range at relatively low print speeds. At higher speeds, higher temperatures than specified may be required for consistent extrusion. In some cases, oiling the filament makes the difference between success and failure.
