The HELI-18 is part of a series of mini HELI antennas. These antennas are smaller compared to their larger counterparts, the HELI-3, HELI-4, and HELI-8, but they offer medium to high gain, making them ideal for mining tunnels where IoT/M2M connectivity is utilized, and they can also be used for coverage within the tunnels. The HELI-18 is a range of 5GHz Wi-Fi antennas that radiate in both directions (i.e., bidirectional), making them perfect for covering the 5GHz band in mining and other tunnels. These antennas are typically used for IoT applications in tunnels to enable telemetry and mining automation. They are available with both left-hand circular (LHC) and right-hand circular (RHC) polarized antenna elements to ensure optimal decorrelation within a MIMO deployment, resulting in optimal performance. The decorrelation is due to the polarization difference and spatial diversity between the two antenna elements, enhancing MIMO performance and RF reliability in a mining tunnel. The Wi-Fi connection propagates around tunnel curves in a non-line-of-sight scenario and provides immunity against many objects that can disrupt the Wi-Fi signal, such as trains and drilling machines that seem to obstruct the tunnel.
