Category 6A standard is ANSI/TIA-568-C, defined by TIA for revised performance standards for twisted-pair cable systems. It was defined in February 2009. Category 6A is defined for frequencies up to 500 MHz – double that of Category 6. Category 6A operates with improved specifications, particularly in the area of crosstalk, compared to Category 6 UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair). The main issue is the performance difference between the ISO/IEC and EIA/TIA component specifications for the NEXT transmission parameter. At 500 MHz, the ISO/IEC Cat 6A connector offers 3 dB better performance than the EIA/TIA Cat 6A connector. 3 dB corresponds to a reduction of the convergent crosstalk noise by 50% of the signal strength.
