FO patch cables are defined components of an internationally standardized structured cabling system according to ISO/IEC 11801. Historically, many different connectors have been used in structured cabling, with the following still being relevant: LC, SC, E2000®, and MPO/MTPE. An FO patch cable represents the shortest connection between a passive cabling port and an active network port, or a point-to-point connection of two active network ports. Quality classes allow for a qualitative differentiation of FO patch cables depending on the network service.
