Product details

The MXR Thump Bass Preamp is a sound-enhancing, signal-boosting, and overall groove-improving machine. The idea for this pedal arose when the MXR design team and our in-house bassists discovered that the sonic secret sauce of the Echoplex preamp harmonizes just as deliciously with bass as it does with guitar. Based on this circuit, the MXR team added a simple yet effective tone-shaping interface that allows you to dial in the perfect bass sound for both stage and studio. It’s easy to create the desired sound. The Echoplex preamp circuit prepares your signal with a carefully balanced EQ profile, and with the tone controls of this pedal, you can further refine it. The treble and bass controls boost or cut frequencies at 4 kHz and 40 Hz, respectively, while the mid control adjusts the mids, as set by the frequency control, from 250 Hz to 1 kHz. This frequency range has been selected to provide players with maximum flexibility and minimal effort in refining their bass signal. Whether you want to spice up a solo, boost your signal in a live mix, or add more edge to the sound of a passive bass, the Thump Bass Preamp offers incredible versatility in an MXR mini housing.
