The Cisco 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP module supports connections of up to 10 kilometers over a standard pair of G.652 single-mode fibers with duplex LC connectors. The QSFP-40G-LR4-S module exclusively supports the 40GBase Ethernet rate. The 40-gigabit Ethernet signal is transmitted over four wavelengths. The multiplexing and demultiplexing of the four wavelengths is managed within the device.
