If the camera does not have a connection for a studio flash or another flash device with the so-called "PC cable connection," this adapter can help. It transmits the simple trigger signal (without TTL) through the center contact and a sync cable to the flash unit. The PC-N adapter also features a center contact on the top for signal transmission.
