The SATA connection has become the standard interface for PC drives. Internal HDDs and SSDs, as well as optical drives, are almost exclusively connected to the motherboard via this interface. The advantages over the predecessor IDE/ATA include not only a higher transfer volume but also a smaller connector and narrower cable. This makes cable management within the case easier and reduces airflow obstruction in the system.
This is a 50 cm long SATA cable in blue with two very thin, straight, and stackable connectors. This design makes it very flexible and easy to handle. It is specified for SATA3 but can also be used with SATA1 and SATA2 thanks to backward compatibility. Its longer length makes this cable suitable for use in larger cases such as big towers, servers, or large office models, helping to avoid cable clutter. Additionally, the cable features shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI).
