Product details

The VCNL4010 sensor is an excellent choice for integrating a proximity sensor into your microcontroller project. It is designed for short distances of up to 200 mm (approximately 7.5 inches), and through experimentation, we have found that it works best at distances of about 10-150 mm. This sensor is great for detecting hand movements nearby or preventing a robot from colliding with a wall.

Additionally, the sensor features a built-in ambient light sensor and is easy to use with any I2C-capable microcontroller. It is 5-volt compatible, allowing it to be used with both 3.3V and 5V logic without risk of damage. There is an integrated 3.3V ultra-low dropout regulator that allows for a power supply of 3.3V to 5.0V. However, providing 5.0V is ideal, as the VIN voltage powers the IR LED, and a higher voltage leads to more power.

Details:

  • PCB dimensions: 23 mm x 23 mm (0.9" x 0.9")
  • Thickness including the tallest SMT components: approximately 3.15 mm (0.125")
  • PCB thickness: 1.75 mm (0.070")
  • This board/chip uses the I2C 7-bit address 0x13.
