Although resistors can be used to create a divider, they can add significant slew and cause havoc in high-speed transmissions, making them difficult to debug. For this reason, the 4050/74LVX245 series and similar logic are used to perform proper level shifting. This is where the bidirectional level shifter TXB0104 comes into play.
