    Question:
    so the following transceiver
    - SFP+ 10GBASE-BX BiDi 1270nm-TX/1330nm-RX 10km DOM Simplex LC/UPC SMF optical transceiver module
    or: P/N:SFP-10G23-BX10

    Correct? Thanks for the info!

Which compatibility should I choose? "Generic" (Generic) fits well?
    Thank you :)

Exactly the linked model - Generic. However, I don't know whether it makes any difference at all in the case of Unifi gear. In any case, I've been using it since February without any problems. Power consumption and temperature of the module are displayed in the Unifi Controller. Cheers

    @OP
What DL/UL speed do you get with the speed test on the UCG fibre? I always *only* get about 4.7-4.9Gbit/s DL (and 8.5-8.9 Gbit/s UL) with Fiber7 10GBit/s at the moment (no matter what time or day of the week). According
to Init7 support, they don't see any errors or other issues.

Hence the question of what values you or others are seeing with the UCG fibre?
It shouldn't be due to the HW if the UL comes reasonably close to the 9 Gbps.

Btw: I used the optic supplied by init7, which is the following one from Flexoptics:

Great, thank you very much! That's how I'd like it too, but then the "UCG fibre" is hardly the problem for me.

I assume my poor DL value has something to do with my "Input Pwr" value of -4.33 dBm (compared to -2.98dBm for
    "Output Pwr"):

    Port 7
    Name SFP+ 2
    Status 10000 FDX (Uplink)
    ...
    Vendor FLEXOPTIX

    Part Num. P.B1696.10.AD
    Voltage 0.00V
    Current 32.22600173950195 mA
    Temperature 46.1℃
    Output Pwr. -2.98 dBm
    Input Pwr. -4.33 dBm

    @pascal999

One last question: could you please check which "Output Pwr" and "Input Pwr" values you see on your WAN SFP?
(You can find these values under "Unifi Devices" > click on the "ucg-fibre device" > mouse over the
SFP WAN interface in the panel on the right side and then in the "pop-up" at the bottom)

@Anonymous, I have exactly the same problem, just under 4 GBit down and 9 GBit up. Fibre7 with the transceiver recommended above. Have you been able to fix the problem in the meantime?

    @Anonymous
    No, unfortunately not:
    - I bought the SFP "SFP-10G23-BX10" from FS (initially I had the one from Flexoptics supplied by Init7): but it delivers exactly the same results
    - The input/output voltage in my case does
not seem to explain the problem or be the cause (at least pascal999 has worse input values and still very good DL speed).
    - Init7 says on their site that everything looks OK for me
    - I have also swapped the fibre patch cable to the ucg-fibre: doesn't help either
    - Next step according to init7 would be to test directly with a PC on the connection (without ucg-fibre) (speed test or probably with iperf) but the effort is too great for me at the moment

But interesting that you have similar DL/UL values: maybe there are "problems" with individual ucg-fibre devices?

It's similar for me, although it's a bit more than 4Gbps down, but to be honest, I can live with it.

Have you tried it without IDS/IPS?

  • avatar
    GelochterPicup55

Yes (with or without IDS/IPS) does not matter to me (I could imagine that the speedtest on the ucg-fibre itself is not inspected by the IDS/IPS or is excluded)

@retokeller: agreed, works fine - but there seem to be 3 people
here with very similar values or DL constantly "only" around 4.x Gbit/s, so it would be interesting to find out where the problem might lie

Thanks for the quick answers guys! Sure, even for me, I don't have a single device with more than 2.5GBit interface and for the whole family 4GBit would be enough, if it's really "only" 4: I've seen several threads online saying that the built-in speed test is useless, especially at high speeds. I'll live with it for now, then when I treat myself to a 10GBit interface I'll take another look at it.

I'm also getting ~4.5Gbs down and ~8.9Gbs up using the Unifi internal Speed Test. The test server is in Dielsdorf, 30 km away, I'm in Uster.
I don't have the hardware (yet) to run speedtest.net at 10 Gbs.
    The issue may be
caused by the Ubiquiti servers used in the internal Speed Test.
Can someone post the up/down speeds using the Unifi internal Speed Test vs. speedtest.net?

    Hello
I will be switching to fibre7 10 Gbit/s with init7 in November and would like to use this gateway. Can I also obtain the SFP from init7? The optics and patch cables are available there. I assume that if I choose Ubiquity
Networks for the optics profile, I should get the right SFP?

Hey quick question, I currently have the Connect Box 3 Fibre from Sunrise and think it's a total arse***. You can hardly do anything with the thing and adjust it. I am therefore considering replacing the thing completely with the CLOUD GATEWAY FIBER. now my question is that feasible with the FSP module (SFP-10G23-BX10) which you have linked or no chance :D thank you for your info.

Attention, if you currently have Sunrise as your ISP, you cannot connect any other routers in my opinion, as Sunrise is forced to use routers. I've also tried using a fibre converter but you can't get the Sunrise config values and even if you do, it's not clear whether they will work. Nobody seems to have been successful with Sunrise Internet and their own router. The CB3Fibre can't even be bridged. So I would also recommend Fibre 7.

That's not quite true. I've had my own router on the network for almost three years.
All I had to do was phone support and request a technology change from L1 to L3. Since then, my FritzBox has been running on the network
without any problems. The router/modem just has to be certified and listed. Then it works. --> However, there is no guarantee that this will still be as easy.
But I want to get away from the Fritz! and am looking around for something new ^^

I have not been able to get through to Sunrise support, either by phone or via the forum. I'm switching to Hybrid7 via P2MP and ALLNET XGS-PON adapter to Unifi Cloud Gateway Fibre in February and should then finally have peace of mind.

Well, I have an appointment with Sunrise 2end level support tonight. I will clarify that they will register my SFP in the OLT system or alternatively switch my connection to PPPoE so that I can dial in with my user name and password. Or that they send me a separate ONT device,
that I can connect between the fibre optic socket and my router. So that I can operate the UniFi normally via Ethernet. Let's see what comes out.

    Hi
Does GPON from Init7 also work with an SFP in the SFP+ port?

1 Gbps Fibre7 via SFP works without any problems in the SFP+ port. I ran it like this for a few days.

Hello everyone. I have exactly the same problem with init7 and both SFP+ modules (FS and also Flexoptix). At times I even had a Zyxel test router from init7 connected to the fibre optic and then the Cloud Gateway connected to the router with 10Gbit port. Regardless of the combination, I achieved measurements of approx. 4.3G/ 9.1G. Signal values of the SFP module are 1.425dBm output and -10.074 input. Unfortunately, I don't have an SFP+ connection on my computer for a proper measurement. Maybe the problem is really with the speed test from Ubiquiti. Hope someone can confirm this.

I would also like to get in touch about this. I've had the UCG fibre since May. I found the same thing, 4.6-4.9Gbps down, 8+ up.
I connected my computer directly to the router via 10G (via Mellanox Connect-X 3 and SFP+ to
RJ45 adapter) and got higher downloads (not the full 10G either, but my cable is very long and the SFP+ to RJ45 module is not optimal).
My theory is that the CPU of the UCG fibre simply can't handle more than 5Gbps down. When downloading to a PC, the traffic is forwarded, but not during the internal speed test. (In addition, IDS is also limited to 5Gbps, which is also due to the CPU performance)

    Hello everyone
Does anyone have experience with the operation of the Unifi Cloud Fiber Gateway in combination with "Green" as InternetServiceProvider, WITHOUT the use of a router (currently Fritz!Box5530 Fiber) and can tell
    me which SFP module works?
    Many thanks in advance

I would like to connect my UniFi Cloud Gateway UCG-Fiber to an Ubiquiti Flex 2.5G PoE via a 30m single-mode fibre. Through research I came across 1 x SFP-10G23-BX10 and 1 x SFP-10G32-BX10 from FS.
    1) Does this work?
    2) Is
    there also a (cost-effective) solution from Digitec/Galaxus?
