Since the HTC Hero, I have become familiar with many HTC models. In the meantime, I also used an iPhone.
With the HTC U11, the design and functionality reached a peak in terms of price. I am not (yet) completely convinced by the 2018 models. In particular, the thinner edge and the 18:9 format require a little getting used to. The balance is not quite right. The sound also has a different image than the U11. Here, too, I'm still not sure whether it wasn't more of a step backwards. The many cameras are also not really convincing in the first 24 hours - except for the portrait mode, which is much better.
Otherwise, everything is solid and tip-top. The headphones are identical to those of the U11 and are above average for an accessory.
I'm not sure yet whether the U12 will go to my wife and I'll go back to the U11. Normally the upgrade path is the other way round.
You certainly can't go wrong with the U12. However, at the moment I would rather recommend the U11, which is really top of the line.
Update 02.12.2018 on the previous negative points:
- Proportions (narrow and long) unusual, but industry trend.
--> Meanwhile, I find the proportions very advantageous.
- Volume control via sensors, reliability?
--> due to updates, they now work very well and are at least as good as "real" controllers.
- Fingerprint on the back
--> is really not a disadvantage and creates space on the front side

Awesome device, super fast, images are amazing! Audio experience is something I never thought I would have with out-of-the-box phone and earphones, really good sound. Although a bit big (but I already got used to it), it has a very nice design, you just know you have a premium device in your hands when you hold it.
