Let's start with the ones I personally like best: Are you basically always hungry and looking for the next snack? Would nothing be further from your mind than dieting? Then you should definitely paddle through the pool or across the lake on something (actually) edible: a fruity pineapple, a delicious margarita pizza or crispy crisps. You're sure to find like-minded people - should you ever need a tip for the nearest chip shop.
Animals and other mythical creatures
Animals are at least as wonderful as ice cream, summer and holidays. And that's why they also need to be on the air mattress. Preferably an aquatic animal or even a mermaid. If you love animals as much as I do, are a teenage girl with a screechy voice or simply part of a family with lots of children, then you should get one of these. They can be noisy or shaky and splashy. But if you'd rather relax on your mattress with a book and float through the water, keep your distance from the cute animals.
Timelessly chic or: la-la-boring
Because in this case you're probably not interested in colour or shape, but simply that the mattress fulfils its purpose: It keeps you afloat. Then you'll be completely satisfied with the run-of-the-mill air mattress, which is plain, practical and timeless: You either inherited it from your parents' household or bought it because it was cheap.
By the way: If you're a rather extroverted air mattress owner and you meet someone with such a meaningless mat while having fun in the water - you don't have to leave immediately with the next wave! Because the person may lack the necessary creativity when choosing their waterbed. However, they will certainly make up for this with pragmatism and modesty.
Extravagance
And then there are the guys who want to set themselves apart from all the mainstream unicorns, sparkly mats and round air rings: If you're one of them, you want to be something special and ergo also lay siege to the water with a mattress that you don't see every day. There's no danger from you as long as people only give you and your stylish watercraft the occasional admiring glance.
Clown
Yes, you're funny, yes, you're cool and yes, you have to prove it in the pool: A snappy crocodile or a fast aeroplane with an integrated water pistol are the perfect choice of air mattress. These air mattresses are generally populated by fun-seeking people who can turn any trip to the water into an exciting adventure. Those who are not looking for rest and relaxation have found a wonderful swimming companion in them. No good (pool) party should be without these air mattresses and their riders.
