digitec plays "Super Mario Party": it can only go wrong
by Philipp Rüegg
Did you get a Nintendo Switch for Christmas? I'm happy for you. The console is really great! It's no coincidence that the Switch is the best-selling of the current generation, offering you a variety of exclusive titles as well as brilliant and fun stand-alone games, mobile or stationary.
Are you jumping with Mario on the skyscrapers of New Donk City, exploring Hyrule with Link or accompanying Madeline on her quest to find herself? Swich guarantees exciting adventures for all tastes. .
. Fun is guaranteed. Cursing other players is part of the game. Don't believe it? My colleagues have tried it.
"Super Mario Party" is full of mini-games where you can compete against friends and family, or collaborate with them.
. The new chapter in the 'Zelda' series dares something new - and it works! In 'Breath of the Wild' it is not the story that impresses, but rather the gigantic and wonderful game world.
The Switch offers extraordinary multiplayer games, among them the new 'Super Smash Bros. The two editors of 'digitec plays' Philipp Rüegg and Simon Balissat had to painfully experience that even cute and funny Nintendo characters can smash - OK, actually just Philipp. Furthermore, "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' is the fastest-selling Switch game.
. Mario not only throws powerful punches, he can also play tennis - or at least something like it. In "Mario Tennis Aces" your favourite characters from the Mario universe take up the racket to challenge each other to the sound of forehands and backhands. A game that is especially fun in multiplayer mode. .
. About multiplayer: 'Mario Kart' cannot be missed. The reworked Wii-U game is really fun on the Switch. However, there is no lack of frustration if that damn blue tank costs you victory just before the finish line.
. Even on the Switch, Mario doesn't forget how to jump. In "Super Mario Odyssey", the former plumber is accompanied by a hat who - how could it be otherwise - has to save his hat girl from Bowser. Ah yes, here too Mario has to save Peach. .
. After "Super Mario Odyssey" you fancy a competitive multiplayer shooter? "Splatoon 2" is for you. Equipped with an airbrush, brush or roller, paint the game world and opponents in vivid colours. If you are interested in e-sports, 'Splatoon 2' is for you. The game is a real e-sports hit.
. With "Pokémon Let's Go", Nintendo is launching a remake of "Pokémon Yellow". A Pokémon game cannot be called such if there are not at least two versions of it. So there are the "Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu!" and "Pokémon Let's Go, Eevee!" versions where you face your adventures either with Pikachu or with Eevee as the initial Pokémon.
. Do you prefer to DIY and create something in the 'real' world? Nintendo has thought of that too. With the Labo series, build tools, cars or fishing rods and other toys using these tools.
. Back in the day, Nintendo brought movement with the Wii console. I too spent many hours with 'Wii Fit', 'Wii Sports' or 'Fitness Boxing'. Are you a sports person or part of the "Minecraft" generation? Now you can immerse yourself in the pixelated mode of "Minecraft" in a mobile way.
. The Switch has established itself as a console for independent (or indie) video games that Nintendo calls Nindies. These include 'Celeste', 'Undertale', 'Owlboy', 'Stardew Valley' and many more. It is also worth taking a look at these games, which are available on the Nintendo eShop.
With all these games you need the right accessories to defeat Ganon, Bowser and all the others. Here's a selection of useful gadgets.
