Lego keeps discontinuing sets, making some of them rare and valuable. Read on to find out which ones might become collector’s items and increase in value in the future.

Lego sets are usually part of the range for about two years before they reach EOL (end of life) status. On its website, the toy manufacturer maintains a list of sets it will retire soon.

If Lego decides to discontinue a set, this may increase its value. But how to know which set will turn into a treasure one day? Unfortunately, there’s no formula for success. However, as a rule of thumb, sets from popular themes such as Star Wars or Harry Potter often have the potential to increase in value – especially limited editions.

The following Lego sets may be retired soon and increase in value:

After buying it, it’s crucial that you store your set in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Be patient – it will take time for the true value of a Lego set to unfold. Keep an eye on the market, so you don’t miss the best time to sell. And don’t forget there’s no guarantee that every set will increase in value. The market is unpredictable.
